The American Heritage College Dictionary (4th ed.)

From A to Zyzzyva, we have a great dictionary for you! The library has recently acquired The American Heritage College Dictionary (4th ed.) and the staff hopes you’ll enjoy it as much as they have. Most dictionaries are used to find the definition of a word or to affirm a spelling choice. The American Heritage College Dictionary (4th ed.) does that but it also has pictures in the margins to help explain things even further—you know, a picture is worth a thousand words. The picture for “teething ring” is adorable and, well, the one for Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley has spawned another round of “which actor/actress (living or dead) would best portray this historical person.” (Right now Meryl Streep is barely beating out Cloris Leachman.)
